The department offers the following health care imaging facilities:
• X-Ray and Radiology Procedures:
Digital Xrays provide clear images with in-depth and detail evaluation. No re-exposures are needed.
Evaluation of bone mineral content is done by DEXA method with grading of the severity of osteoporosis by World Health Organization criteria.
Digital high resolution mammography machine which detects “microcalcification” in breast tissue – an early sign of malignancy before a palpable lump forms. Screening mammography is recommended for all women above 40 years of age.
The superior grayscale resolution of the state of the art, high resolution ultrasound machines offer excellent image acquisitions for all routine sonographies and small part studies.
• Colour Doppler:
The department possesses a high end color doppler equipment that has a superior gray scale resolution and picks up even very low velocity flows and the smallest of plaques / turbulent flow velocities of Carotid, Renal, Peripheral vascular ( upper and lower limb), Portal, Scrotal and Obstetric Doppler studies can be performed.
• 64 and 16 Slice Spiral CT Scanner:
The 64 slice CT scanner speed has the ability to acquire 192 slices per second with detaildc and specific image information in all 3 planes with 3D reconstruction.
Noninvasive Diagnostic CT Angiography of coronary arteries, neck and brain, Pulmonary arteries, Aorta, and the Upper & Lower limb vascular tree has replaced the conventional angiography done with a catheter, eliminating the need for admission and associated complications. Cardiac CT Coronary Angiography is an excellent screening modality for coronary arterial disease with a negative predictive value of 98% and 95%accuracy.
Image Guided Interventional Procedures as noninvasive biopsies for tissue diagnosis, percutaneous drainage catheter placements and nerve blocks for chronic pain management are offered.
• 5 Tesla MRI
The department has a 1.5 Tesla MRI with the capability of performing all advanced MR studies and neurological applications such as:
• Diffusion and Perfusion
• MR Angiography,
• MR Venogram
High quality musculoskeletal, whole spine, vascular and abdominal imaging with MRCP can be performed using the 1.5 Tesla MRI.
The department is equipped with an MR compatible (anaesthesia machine) for life support, which can be used in serious conditions as well as claustrophobic patients and with blue tooth technology for in scan vitals monitoring.
• Interventional radiology procedures
Image Guided Interventional Procedures such as noninvasive biopsies for tissue diagnosis, percutaneous drainage catheter and venous lines placements, vascular malformation sclerptherapy, and nerve blocks for chronic pain management are offered in the Laboratories.
